Mexico is one of the top low cost travel destinations for gastric band surgery outside the United States, where the cost for lap band is usually between $6,000 and $8,000.
The cost of lap band in Mexico is about half of what it costs in the United States. This makes traveling to Mexico a more affordable option for many people. The cost of surgery may not be the only expense, however, and it is important for individuals to consider other expenses that may be involved. Some of the other costs to consider are pre-op and post-op testing, post-op care, travel expenses, follow-up appointments, and in the case of gastric band surgery, adjustments or fills.
Our Lap Band Surgery Center in Tijuana offers complete logistical assistance to our patients so that you may have a hassle-free experience.
This is a business, and as such, these “brokers” will receive an income from deciding which surgeon you will end up having surgery, not “you”, the patient. They may represent several surgeons, websites or medical groups.
Please do not wait to feel better any longer!! I sure wish that I had done it at 30 instead of 40. I am here and feeling great now though!!!!Jennifer Green
Choose a surgeon that has demonstrated integrity, ability, good judgment and has a proven track record. How can you do that? Look at his reputation and the certifications he holds. For instance, an incompetent surgeon who rips off his patients would not be an FACS, a member of ASBS, etc. Ask for a copy of the surgeon´s cetification, credentials or any degree, especially if they are not in the website. There is a great advantage if the surgeon is certified by the ASBS (American Society for Bariatric Surgery). The surgeon should also be a member of IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity). Here is the website´s link: http://www.obesity-online.com/ifso/council.htm
An accurate way to know more about a surgeon, is contacting some of the patients that have had surgery and may even be in touch for progress or success on the weight-loss
procedure.

Gastric Band surgery is commonly referred to as lap band surgery by patients, but the terms do not necessarily mean exactly the same thing. While the procedure is generally known as adjustable gastric banding, the type of band that is implanted into the body can be any one of several types. There are many bands used worldwide, but only two are approved by the US FDA for use in the United States, the LAP-BAND System and the REALIZE Band.
This is important for follow-up medical care, including getting adjustments and band fills, in the United States. At Huacuz Surgical Center we only use Allergan Lap Band, our
surgeon is certified an trained by the creators of the Lap Band in Europe.
